MALAWI: Supporting vulnerable populations
Debbie Burns is now serving the Blantyre Synod Health and Development Commission (BSHDC) as Technical Assistant for the Orphans and Other Vulnerable Children program (OVC) in Malawi. BSHDC has five main program areas: Livelihoods; Health and HIV/AIDS; OVC; Gender; and Governance. The OVC program serves children and families in many ways, providing child care, psychosocial and educational support and vocational training. It also offers various training and development initiatives for community members. Debbie is very grateful for the work she is able to do and the support she receives through Presbyterians Sharing.
Support Team PWS&D
Race day is less then a month away and Team PWS&D needs your help to reach their fundraising goal of $10,000 by October 14, when the team takes part in the Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Funds will go towards Presbyterian World Service & Development’s development and relief programs around the world. Visit www.WeRespond.ca to learn more and contribute to the team’s fundraising efforts. Please mark donations “Team PWS&D” or specify the team member's name.
Today is Rally Day
This is that time of year again when summer comes to a close, we’ve had our vacations and the kids are back to school. Because many people travel during the summer and do not participate in activities with the congregation, Rally Day is a great way to bring those members back and show how special Sunday school is. So we mark today as our Rally Day and with it we have what is becoming an annual event, our Sundaes on Sunday to welcome everyone back to Sunday School and your church activities. Please join us in the Sunday School hall after our worship service this morning and have an ice-cream with us during our fellowship time.
Financial Report – end of August
Copies of our August financial statement are still available out in the Sunday School hall. If you didn’t pick up a copy last Sunday please do so today. We need your continued support as we head into the months ahead when our heating and operating costs increase.
Whether morning, noon, or night, make God’s Word your delight.
