Welcome one and all to Claude Church
We welcome everyone here today. We hope that you feel comforted in our fellowship and inspired by our worship, and that you will leave here refreshed and inspired in your personal life. Elder Doug Lackie will bring the message to us this morning. Thank you Doug. If you are visiting us for the first time today, please sign our guest book in the front entrance vestibule. If you are looking for a church home, we invite you to return and consider worshipping with us on a regular basis.

Healthy Babies, Happy Moms: PWS&D Sunday School Challenge
Although one of the most important interventions for a safe pregnancy and delivery is the assistance of a skilled health worker and quality health facilities, in Malawi, less than half give birth in a hospital with the assistance of a trained nurse or midwife. As a result, Malawi has one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the world. Your support of Presbyterian World Service & Development’s Sunday School Challenge “Healthy Babies, Happy Moms” will make lasting improvements to the health and wellbeing of women and children. A gift of only $330 teaches a nurse how to help mothers deliver and care for new babies, so women and children survive birth more often and babies are given a strong start in life.
Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist. 1 Corinthians 8:6 NRSV
Help Fill Our Food Sharing Box
At this time of year, all of the local Food Banks struggle with an increased demand for help from their clients and their supplies of food run very low. We appeal to you to bring an item of food with you each Sunday and place it in our Food Sharing Box which will be located in the Sunday School Hall. Please help us fill our box each week.
A Special Note of Thanks
It takes a lot of work by a number of folks to keep our church going from week to week throughout the year. Many of these folks faithfully go about their work without fanfare and often don’t get recognized for everything they do. As this year comes to a close, please pause and take a few minutes to think about all the things that do have to be done around here so that we can continue to have a place of worship at Claude and offer a prayer of thanks for all those who make it all happen. And if you haven’t been actively helping with some of the tasks, perhaps you can make it a New Year’s resolution to make time in your life to contribute some time throughout 2013 to lighten the load for others.

Offering Envelopes for 2013
We have a supply of unused offering envelopes left over from previous years and rather than discard them, we plan to use them for the coming year. This means you will be issued a new envelope number other than the one you have had in previous years. Russ McGillivray has the envelopes so please see him and make sure he records your new number on his list.
A CALL TO PRESBYTERIANS FOR INPUT INTO OUR VISIONING FOR THE FUTURE
Charles Greaves, convener of the Finance Committee Special 2014 Budget Committee, has issued an important call to all Presbyterians, seeking input into The Presbyterian Church in Canada’s visioning for the future and preparation of the 2014 budget. We need your vision, your passion and your discernment. Our question to you is: “What are the programs and projects that bind us together and fulfill not just what is required but what truly makes us Presbyterian in Canada today?” The full letter is copied below. Please send in your comments today by email or mail to 50 Wynford Drive, Toronto ON M3C 1J7 (attention: 2014 Budget). As we move through the season marking the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ, we send greetings to all congregations and members of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. We need your vision, your passion and your discernment. Our question to you is: "What are the programs and projects that bind us together and fulfil not just what is required but what truly makes us Presbyterian in Canada today?" This letter is coming to you from a Special Sub-Committee of the PCC's Finance Committee. Our task is to prepare a 2014 budget for the PCC that will ultimately go before General Assembly in June 2013. It will be based on budget principles prepared by this Special Committee over the last several months and adopted by Assembly Council in November 2012. This gives us a short timeline to do this work. The Sub-Committee's members include Daniel Cho (minister of Rexdale Presbyterian Church and former Life and Mission Agency (LMA) convener), Gordon Cooke (member, Finance Committee), Heather Crisp (convener of the Assembly Council), Charles Greaves (convener of the Finance Committee), Rick Horst (past moderator and minister of St Andrew’s, Barrie), John Matheson (representative of the theological colleges and past convener of the Board of Knox College), and Joan Stellmach (Calgary, elder and past member of Assembly Council). Together, we reflect on many elements of the PCC. However, we strongly believe that we need to hear from as many members of the Church as possible as we plan this budget. Your answers to the question posed at the beginning of this letter are vital to this exercise. Our Church has not been immune to the seismic changes affecting Canadian society. We have been experiencing a decline in membership for several years and our financial resources have diminished due to the economic downturn of 2008. Yet we remain engaged in reimagining how the Gospel will continue to be a force for positive change in Canada. Our budgeting must be geared both towards good stewardship of our resources and to maintaining our priority ministries. In order to accomplish the goal of presenting a proposed budget to the General Assembly in June, we need your input by February 15th, 2013. Please submit your ideas by email to email@example.com, or by mail to The Presbyterian Church in Canada, (Attention 2014 Budget) to the address shown above.
Your comments, questions and prayers are all solicited. Please share this letter with others in your church so that we will hear from as many diverse voices as possible. With sincerest appreciation and greetings in this Christmas Season, Charles Greaves, Convener, Finance Committee Special 2014 Budget Committee
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing hymns to God. Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
